With Cheektowaga’s new MinuteTraq program it won’t be long before the citizens can access Agendas and Minutes from back as 1839 through TownClerk.com. Cheektowaga’s Mary Holtz said “as a historian and town clerk I’m very excited,” and envisions bringing all 167 years of minutes to townclerk.com for citizens to view. This way someone can search by name of an ancestor and see if that person served on the Town Board or had any dealings with the town, she said.

Holtz had a belief 20 years ago about bringing minutes to the public by typing the hand-written documents. “I had no concept of the Internet then,” she said. Now, with the program she will be able to post the minutes from 1839 to 1930 on the website and allow anyone to learn what was resolved on that first Town Board meeting.
