Social Security’s Open Government Initiative

December 17, 2013
by Jacque Porte

This year, the Social Security Administration (SSA) launched its Open Government Initiative to promote transparency, participation, and collaboration. The initiative is part of the agency’s open government goals and has been implemented in two plans: the first in June 2000 and the second in September 2012.

The plans included broadcasting several webinars, expanding their social media presence, publishing a data inventory and release plan, and hosting several engagements with the public and employees. They intend to continue to use innovative tools to improve their data sharing and to engage the public. The Open Government Initiative web page offers access to the revised Open Government Plan, helpful links, as well as the agency’s datasets.

Other government agencies are quickly discovering the benefits of posting videos and documents online. Municipalities have been swiftly partnering with companies that can provide their citizens to the best their local government has to offer, including live-streaming media, unlimited searchable agendas and minutes, and a host of features to help clerks automate their work and define a more efficient agenda-creation process.

For help connecting with the only company that can provide all this, plus a myriad of additional features and a lauded 24/7 support team, contact the providers of MinuteTraq, MediaTraq, and e-Boardroom at Support@IQM2.com.
